Feeding Your Body Mindfully To Honor Your Spirit and Accomplish More

"Take care of your body with steadfast fidelity.
The soul must see through these eyes alone,
and if they are dim, the whole world is clouded
."
~von Goethe

As human beings, and especially
for any human being who works for a living,
most likely already know that these sage words of
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
are even better advice today than
as when he wrote them in the early 1800's.
And he would know.
Von Goethe was no slacker,
more of an over-achiever, if anything.
This famous German gentleman was a poet,
a playwright, (creator of the classic 'Faust')
as well as a novelist. And also a scientist, statesman
and he also dabbled as an artist, drama critic and more.

But his statement on the importance of self care still holds true.
As both a a reminder and as inspiration,
I've compiled a
collection of quotes,
in which
there is wisdom, instruction or advice,
as well as warnings for incentive
to heed said advice.

Hope you find them helpful, inspiring
and deliciously enjoyable.

"Knowing is not enough; we must apply.
Willing is not enough; we must do."

~von Goethe

As a Voiceover Artist and Vocalist,
I see and feel a huge difference in my vocal sound,
and see and feel a drop in my ability,
whenever I let myself slide, get lazy or indulgent.

Such a difference, that not only have I decided it's
rarely worth that mere moment of indulgent enjoyment,
but that now I'm using the memory
of how lousy I feel afterward
as a 'tool' to keep myself on track.
(And I'm not even talking about over-drinking,
drugs or massive amounts of candies,
but just from eating a few meals worth of
basic crappy, junky, overprocessed 'food')
.
Having been on a clean, unprocessed, organic, whole-foods diet
for many years now, seems my body has become sensitized
and is now rejecting processed foods.
It's like my system is sending out an alarm, much like
the Robot in 'Lost in Space:
"Warning! Will Robinson, Danger!"
And I feel compelled to heed the warning.

"Health is the greatest gift,
contentment the greatest wealth,
faithfulness the best relationship
."
~Buddha

I'm not going to tell you to eat this, or not eat that.
I don't have to. Because I know that you know.
We all know what we should do.

It's just not possible to live well and stay healthy
while eating processed foods, junk food,
sweets, non-foods, and food so overdosed with sugars,
'bad' fats,chemicals, preservatives, artificial colors
...and those mysterious 'flavor enhancers'.

"Every time you don't follow your inner guidance,
you feel a loss of energy,
a loss of power,
a sense of spiritual deadness
"
~Shakti Gawain

The choices you make when eating
are another way for you to honor yourself,
in both body, mind and spirit.
We feel good about ourselves when we care for ourselves.

Which in turn helps us to give more of ourselves
to help others, as well as ourselves.
So, it's a Win / Win, all around.

"Every man is the builder of a Temple
called his Body
..."

...so don't eat meals like this.
(jk, he didn't actually say that)
~Henry David Thoreau

"Life is the sum of all your choices."
~Albert Camus

So true, Albert, that's why it's imperative for us
to make good ones, sticking with wise choices
and ignoring indulgent whims.
Once in a while they're fun,
but you'll end up paying for them if
you make it a weekly or daily habit.

And, over time, when you eat well,
junk foods' hold on you will diminish,
your system will clear and the
cravings for them will disappear.

When you feel great, you have more energy
and a clearer, sharper mind,
which helps you accomplish more
of the goals you've set.

Here's to honoring YOU.

Wishing you a happy, mindful and
healthful Autumn season,

xo♥
